For ideas worth following wherever they lead.
The Bathurst Hardcover Journal (No. 01) brings together landscape, geometry and botanical detail in a richly layered composition designed to reveal more the longer one looks.
Across the cover, a winding river travels through forested hills towards distant mountains, passing a waterside cabin along the way. Around it, sculptural branches and berries, sweeping geometric forms and fine linear details move through deep navy, midnight blue, forest and olive green, warm ivory and muted gold.
There is an intentional tension within Bathurst between the ordered and the unexpected. Architectural lines intersect with landscape; botanicals emerge between geometric forms; expanses of deep blue give way to smaller details that might not be noticed at first glance. The result feels less like a conventional pattern than a composition assembled gradually — a landscape of movement, discovery and possibility.
The wraparound format allows that story to continue beyond the front cover. The landscape occupies the front, while the reverse becomes increasingly abstract, with berries, foliage, trees and geometry taking precedence. A narrow gold-toned rule provides a precise finish before giving way to a clean ivory panel below.
On the front, BATHURST No. 01 appears in restrained gold lettering. On the reverse, a small Alorse & Co. maker’s mark quietly completes the journal without competing with the artwork.
Inside, 150 lined pages provide ample room for meeting notes, plans, observations, reflections and ideas still taking shape. Casewrap sewn binding allows the journal to open comfortably for writing, while perforated pages can be removed neatly when needed.
The smooth matte laminated hardcover gives the detailed artwork a refined finish while providing the durability required for regular use. Kept on a desk, carried between meetings or slipped into a travel bag, Bathurst No. 01 is designed to become part of the work that happens around it.
For what you are considering now — and whatever it may become next.
