The Crescendo Umbrella (No. 02) brings the collection’s expressive composition to an everyday essential, pairing intricate illustration with a sophisticated palette of midnight blue, charcoal, black, warm ochre and cream.
Across the canopy, sweeping forms flow into one another in a richly layered composition. Sculptural calabashes and decorative vessels emerge among broad petal-like curves, curling spirals, botanical details and intricate hand-drawn markings. Some forms are immediately recognizable; others disappear almost entirely into the surrounding artwork, revealing themselves only with a closer look.
The segmented canopy gives Crescendo a particularly dynamic canvas. As the artwork travels across the individual panels, vessels, curves and botanical forms are enlarged, cropped and continued in unexpected ways. One panel may be dominated by an elongated calabash, while another reveals a bowl, a curling spiral, a scattering of patterned markings or little more than a sweeping passage of colour. Seen from above, the composition becomes almost kaleidoscopic; viewed from beneath, the umbrella’s structural framework introduces another layer of geometry to the fluid artwork.
Open, Crescendo No. 02 has considerable presence. The contrast of warm ochre and cream against midnight blue, charcoal and black gives the canopy richness without relying on bright colour, making this one of the collection’s more restrained interpretations. Folded away, those same tones compress into a distinctive patterned accessory that remains recognizable even when not in use.
Made from 100% polyester pongee, the canopy is waterproof and quick-drying, supported by eight fibre ribs for structure. A semi-automatic mechanism allows for convenient one-handed opening, while the black rubber handle provides a comfortable grip and the attached wrist strap makes it easier to carry between uses. A coordinating printed sleeve keeps the folded umbrella neatly contained.
