The Crescendo Women’s Quilted Jacket (No. 02-B) brings the collection’s expressive artwork to a lightly padded outer layer, pairing its richly layered composition with soft ivory for a lighter interpretation of Crescendo No. 02.
Across the body, sweeping forms move into one another in a restrained palette of midnight blue, charcoal, black, ivory and warm ochre-gold. Sculptural calabashes and decorative vessels emerge among broad petal-like curves, curling spirals, botanical details and intricate hand-drawn markings. Rather than sitting apart as individual motifs, the forms overlap and transform into one another, giving the artwork a continuous sense of movement from collar to hem.
The larger scale of the jacket gives Crescendo particular presence. A tall ochre vessel rises prominently across the front, surrounded by sweeping curves and smaller decorative forms, while the back provides an uninterrupted canvas for the composition to unfold. From a distance, the jacket is defined by movement and contrast; closer inspection reveals vessels, spirals, botanical elements and finer markings embedded throughout the artwork.
What distinguishes No. 02-B is its soft ivory framing. Solid ivory quilted sleeves draw out the lighter passages within the artwork, while the coordinating ivory stand collar brings brightness around the face and gives the jacket an altogether different character from its black-trimmed counterpart. The full-length black zip provides a crisp vertical line through the centre, adding definition without interrupting the fluidity of the composition.
The result is expressive but remarkably wearable. The ivory softens the darker elements of the artwork, while ochre and muted blue provide warmth and depth. Paired with cream trousers, denim, black, navy or other neutrals, the jacket can become the focal point of an outfit without feeling difficult to style.
Lightweight padding provides warmth without excessive bulk, making Crescendo No. 02-B well suited to transitional weather, travel, morning commutes and cooler evenings.
