A playful yet considered expression of the Wonderbright collection, the Wonderbright Backpack (No. 01) pairs a deep forest green exterior with carefully placed sections of the collection’s expressive hand-drawn artwork.
From the front, the backpack is deliberately restrained. The expansive green body remains largely uninterrupted, with Wonderbright appearing in a narrow section across the front pocket and a glimpse along the crown. Layered greens, loose white marks and small touches of yellow introduce character while allowing the strong, simple silhouette to remain dominant.
The character changes as the backpack turns. Across the crown and upper side panels, considerably more of Wonderbright is revealed. Larger sunny yellow forms emerge alongside painterly greens, spontaneous white scribbles, small drawn marks and irregular shapes. The artwork feels energetic and instinctive, contrasting beautifully with the otherwise solid forest-green exterior.
This changing view is central to the design. From the front, Wonderbright is almost discreet; from the side and above, it becomes joyful and expressive. The pattern is not simply repeated across the backpack, but revealed in different fragments depending on how the piece is seen.
The palette helps hold those two personalities together. Deep forest green gives the backpack depth and versatility, brighter greens introduce movement, and warm yellow brings an unexpected lift. White hand-drawn details provide further contrast, while black zips, straps, mesh and hardware ground the composition.
There is an intentional freedom to Wonderbright — imperfect marks, painterly shapes and spontaneous lines that celebrate creativity and imagination. Against the more structured form of the backpack, that looseness feels particularly effective.
