Deep espresso brown gives the Passage Backpack (No. 01-B) a grounded, sophisticated foundation, while carefully placed sections of the Passage design introduce warmth, movement and character.
Passage appears in a painterly composition of elongated marks and softly irregular strokes, bringing together cream, rust, ochre, olive, brown and black. Against the dark exterior, the lighter pattern creates a striking contrast, but its placement remains deliberately controlled.
From the front, the design is revealed in narrow accents rather than across the entire surface. A patterned section above the zipped pocket draws the eye, while another slender glimpse follows the crown of the backpack. The expansive brown body is left uninterrupted, giving the piece a particularly clean and composed appearance.
Viewed from the side, considerably more of Passage is revealed. The pattern extends along the upper side panels, allowing its layered colour and rhythmic brushwork to emerge gradually as the backpack moves. This shift between a restrained front and more expressive side profile gives No. 01-B much of its character — what initially appears almost minimal becomes more distinctive on closer inspection.
The deep brown ground also changes the character of Passage itself. Cream and ochre bring warmth, rust adds richness, while small notes of olive and black give the composition depth. Black zips, straps and hardware sit naturally against the darker exterior, creating a polished finish without competing with the patterned details.
The result is an understated interpretation of Passage: expressive without being overtly patterned, and distinctive without sacrificing versatility. It moves comfortably between the working day, commuting, study, travel and everyday use.
